Who are you most looking forward to seeing at the 2017 Festival? The school children who join me on the nature walks. Which book has inspired you the most? Portrait of a Wilderness by Guy Mountfort or The Observers Book of Birds by S Vere Benson (I will be talking about this at the Festival in my talk: The Power of the Book). What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Make tea, feed the dogs and go out birding..... What is your life’s motto? Probably: Love and Respect Nature Our theme for the 2017 Festival is Journeys. Can you tell us which journeys in your life have been most memorable? Yes, my first journey to the Middle East – on the Orient Express to Istanbul in 1966. I went on an eight month expedition to study another journey – that of migrating birds of prey crossing the Boshporus on their epic migration from Europe to Africa. (I will be talking about this at the Festival in my talk: Wars & WildLife).
