Meet the 2016 Authors – David Crystal

David-Crystal1What are you most looking forward to at the 2016 Festival? The relaxing green room. Normally, at a litfest, I find myself coming and going quickly, often on the same day. Not with you, where there’s a real chance to stay around, with all the benefits that this brings. When did you realise you wanted to be a writer? As a teenager, when I had a couple of short stories published. What book do you find yourself re-reading most often? None. There are too many unread books out there calling to me. If you weren’t a writer, what would you be? A film or theatre director. I’ve done it a couple of times, and loved it. And finally, we have a number of aspiring writers attending the Festival. What one piece of advice would you give them? Write something. Every day. Even if you think it’s rubbish. Then revise incessantly. And throw nothing away.
