LitSpeak - Victoria Hislop

Victoria-Hislop-2What are you most looking forward to at EAFOL16? To meeting authors from different cultures and countries. Why do you think literary festivals are important? To share a passion for reading and a books, to share ideas, to listen as well as speak! Can you share one line from a book or poem that has stayed with you for the longest time? “Don’t wait for the muse.” - It’s from Stephen King’s book “On Writing”. You have to make a book tower of at least 5 books for your nightstand. Which ones would you choose? It will be a selection of favourite “comfort” reads, and books I am reading now, and books that I plan to read! My book of Cavafy poems (with parallel translation) and The Hours by Michael Cunningham (a comfort read), Thus Bad Begins by Javier Marias (the book I am currently reading), my guidebook to Delphi, in Greece (I have just been there and want to relive it), Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler (it’s Anne Tyler’s version of The Taming of the Shrew) - I am lucky enough to have been sent a proof.  It comes out in June 2016. In your opinion, what does 2016 hold for the world of literature? Lots of great things!  At least as much diversity as this year, lots more in translation, lots more originality. 2016 will not disappoint us.
